Family comes in all shapes
Been thinking about my sister-in-law and her family this week. Yesterday they had to say goodbye to their awesome dog, Kesha. Over the last couple of years she has turned into a proper little old lady. Greying hair, hearing loss, a steady decline in the number of her teeth, a bit of vision loss and some stiff joints to top it all off.
She had a long, happy and love-filled life. She helped raise 5 girls, put up with getting her nails painted, and having flowers stuck on her head. She was patient and sweet. Kesha protected her humans and loved them all unconditionally – even her auntie Carole. She sounded like a wheezy old car struggling to start when she barked, and she had a very unladylike problem with gas. Her favourite spot for a snooze was on someone’s (anyone’s) foot. She snored, slobbered and snuffled with the best of them.
I searched through all my family pics to find a few really nice ones of Kesha that I could share with my sister-in-law. That mission ended up becoming a bit of a meander down memory lane. We are incredibly lucky to have family with whom we share our lives…both human and furry.
Hug your furbabies when you get home from work tonight.
We are lucky to have known you – we will miss you Keshie dog!
